Overview

The Constructor is a production building that fabricates whole block payloads rather than producing individual items. It can only build blocks from a predetermined, hard-coded list; blocks outside that list — including those added by mods or that would only be available in special environments — are not available to the Constructor. When a block is finished the Constructor ejects the completed block payload in the direction it is facing.

Construction speed is fixed relative to a block’s listed build time: the actual time the Constructor takes equals 166.6% of the block’s base build time plus 0.283 seconds, which corresponds to a build speed of 60% (half of the Evoke’s 120% build speed noted in sources). After a block is produced the Constructor will not begin a new build until the previous payload has completely exited the building, creating an inherent pause between successive constructions.

Practical notes and interactions:

  • The Constructor only makes the blocks enumerated in its internal list; it will not gain access to additional blocks from mods or environment-specific placements.
  • Always orient the Constructor so its facing direction points toward clear space or a receiving mechanism: the completed block is output in the building’s facing direction and must fully leave the block before the next build can start.
  • The effective throughput for a given block equals the block’s base build time scaled by the Constructor’s slower build rate and the additional 0.283 s per build; plan production chains with that delay in mind.
  • Because of the wait-until-exit rule, ensure the output path is not obstructed; a blocked or slow transport path (or a build immediately adjacent to the output space) will stall further construction.
  • Use the Constructor when you need discrete block payloads rather than raw items; its deterministic behavior and known timing make it suitable for timed construction tasks where the exact block payload matters.

The Constructor’s behavior and timing are mechanical and predictable: it uses a fixed build list, a fixed speed factor relative to block build times, and a strict output-and-wait policy that dictates how you must arrange space and downstream handling to avoid stalls.
