Overview

The Exponential Reconstructor is a unit-production building introduced in version 6.0. It converts large amounts of resources and cryofluid into higher-tier units. It functions like other unit-producing blocks in the game family, accepting item and liquid inputs and spawning completed units; it also inherits the storage behavior common to unit factories and can hold twice its input item capacity.

The block received updates in later versions: in version 7.0 (Build 127) it gained the ability to upgrade Cyerce into Aegires, and in version 7.0 (Build 136) its health was increased from 1960 to 3035.

Practical operation and throughput considerations:

  • To run an Exponential Reconstructor without input bottlenecks (assuming identical overdrive strengths across machines), the commonly cited baseline is 5 Cryofluid Mixers, 8 Plastanium Compressors, and either 2 Silicon Crucibles or 7 Silicon Smelters to sustain material conversion rates.
  • Cryofluid buffering: three Liquid Tanks store just enough cryofluid to produce one unit if you prefer to build up cryofluid reserves instead of producing it just-in-time. As an alternative to tanks, 7–8 Liquid Containers can be used depending on your cryofluid production speed and reliability.
  • Titanium demand is significant. The aggregate Titanium consumption called out for a full setup is 25.27 titanium/sec (breakdown: the Reconstructor itself plus supporting Cryofluid Mixers and Plastanium Compressors — e.g., 0.5 × 5 = 2.5/sec for Cryofluid Mixers and 2 × 7.22 = 14.44/sec for Plastanium Compressors, together with the Reconstructor’s own draw to reach the total). On custom maps where Cryofluid tiles supply cryofluid directly, the required Titanium drops to 22.77 titanium/sec.
  • Mining recommendations: that throughput is roughly equivalent to the output of 3 watered Airblast Drills plus a watered Laser Drill fully covering Titanium veins, or alternatively 3 watered Airblast Drills plus a watered Pneumatic Drill in some situations. Assigning heavy mining units such as Megas or Quasars to mine Titanium is also a viable option for direct mobile extraction.
  • Logistics: because of the heavy Titanium flow, using Plastanium Conveyors for transporting Titanium is recommended for reliability and throughput.

Additional notes:

  • Like other unit-producing blocks, the Exponential Reconstructor can store twice the amount of input items relative to its stated input capacity, which helps smooth bursty production or temporary supply interruptions.
  • The block’s recipe table and exact unit outputs follow the game’s tiered unit progression; consult in-game production UIs or the full recipes list for specific unit costs and required inputs for each unit type.
