Overview

Cyerce is a naval unit introduced in Mindustry in Version 7.0 (Build 127). It functions as a hybrid combat-and-support vessel: it fires seeking cluster missiles at enemy targets while simultaneously providing repair beams to allied units and structures. Its role sits between pure offensive ships and dedicated support platforms, offering significant burst damage through its cluster projectiles and modest but valuable onboard repair capabilities.

Cyerce's primary offensive system consists of two missile mounts that fire at a rate of 2 × 0.5 shots per second. Each missile deals 25 damage on impact and creates an area-of-effect explosion of approximately 3.7 tiles. Upon detonation the missile spawns seven frag bullets; each frag does 11 damage, creates an area explosion of about 2.5 tiles, and has homing behavior. The frags also impart 2.8% repair when they hit allied units. The unit pairs this with two centered repair beams that each restore 42 health per second to allied units. Cyerce’s movement speed and range were adjusted in early post-release builds: its speed was converted to 6.45 tiles/second, and its range was increased from 24 to 27 tiles. A command-unit limit that initially capped how many could be ordered was removed in Build 136.

Because the ship trades longer range for heavy burst damage, it lacks the superior reach of longer-range vessels like the Bryde; this shorter engagement envelope can be exploited by lighter, fast-firing units such as Ripples that can take advantage of distance to trade fire safely. Conversely, the cluster projectiles make Cyerce capable of very high single-target and area damage when enemies close in. Close-range anti-ship options such as Lancers are effective against Cyerce because its base fire rate is relatively low, meaning sustained high-DPS attackers can out-damage its output before its repair beams fully compensate. Units with high sustained DPS—examples noted in strategy discussion include Fuse and Scorch—are particularly effective at negating the benefits of the Cyerce’s repairs by killing targets quickly.

The two repair beams are the defining support feature. They reduce the need to build dedicated Repair Turrets and allow offensive capital ships (for example, Sei-class vessels) to remain on the front lines longer without returning to base. Cyerce synergizes well with Oxynoe for maximizing offensive buffs and healing without investing in larger support fleets such as Aegires-class ships. On defensive positions, the onboard repairs can help structures survive concentrated single-target strikes (Scepter-class threats were cited as examples), though Cyerce is not primarily a structure-defense platform and its damage against hostile units is weaker than some alternatives.

Practical notes and tactical points:

  • Place Cyerces behind front-line vessels or use them in small flotillas to provide both burst fire and steady repairs; their shorter range means positioning is critical.
  • Use units with high single-target DPS to counter Cyerce before its repairs restore too much health.
  • Combine Cyerce with Oxynoe for a balance of offense and sustained survivability without the greater cost of larger support ships.
  • The frag homing behavior amplifies damage against clustered targets and helps hit agile units that survive the initial missile blast.

Cyerce’s name is derived from the genus Cyerce, a group of sacoglossan, shell-less sea slugs that feed primarily on algae.
