Overview

Block is a buildable structure type that players place to interact with the world and other game systems. Blocks encompass a wide range of functions including offense, resource extraction and processing, logistics, power management, defense, unit production and control, and special utilities. Some blocks exist only in the Editor as environment tiles or technical processors; most are constructed by players during a match and form the backbone of any base or automated system.

Blocks are organized into broad categories that reflect their primary role. Turrets specialize in dealing damage to enemy units and consume resources to fire. Extractors harvest raw resources from environmental features, typically consuming power and sometimes additional inputs. Item Transporters move and distribute items between containers and machines. Liquid Blocks handle collection, transport, distribution, and storage of fluids. Power Blocks generate, store, or transmit power. Walls provide passive defense by blocking projectiles and blocking non-legged ground units. Crafters convert input resources into new items and usually require power. Unit and Payload Blocks focus on unit production, upgrading and repair; payload blocks handle construction and distribution of payloads. Utility Blocks cover miscellaneous functions including cores and special defensive structures. Logic Blocks expose programmable behavior for automation and advanced control.

Unit-focused blocks are used to produce, repair, and upgrade units and to manage their payloaded forms. They integrate with the rest of a base through item and liquid transport, and often depend on power and resource inputs to operate. Payload-capable blocks handle building or delivering blocks/items in payload form and distribute those payloads to where they are needed. Because unit and payload systems link multiple subsystems, they commonly sit at the intersection of manufacturing, logistics, and defense.

Environment Blocks and Tiles are not part of standard buildable sets in matches; they are available in the Editor where designers place terrain features and technical processors for custom maps or scenarios.

Practical usage and interactions:

  • Place production, repair, and unit-factory blocks near reliable power and supply lines to avoid stalls in unit output or repair cycles.
  • Connect unit and payload blocks to conveyor and router networks so produced units or payloads can receive the required items and be deployed efficiently.
  • Protect key production blocks (factories, crafters, power sources) behind walls and turrets; losing supply or power cripples dependent systems like unit production.
  • Use Logic Blocks to automate unit production lines, resource prioritization, and payload distribution so factories run continuously with minimal micromanagement.
  • Remember that some environment/technical tiles only exist in the Editor and cannot be placed during normal matches; they are intended for map design and testing.
