Plastanium Compressor

Produces plastanium from oil and titanium.
Overview
Plastanium Compressor is an advanced production building that converts oil and titanium into
Each Plastanium Compressor consumes 15 oil/sec and 2 titanium/sec, uses 180 power/sec, completes a production cycle every 1 second, and outputs 1 Plastanium/sec. Because of these fixed rates, building an efficient Plastanium factory is largely an exercise in matching oil and titanium throughput plus power provisioning.
Titanium supply: a single full-speed titanium conveyor (11/s) cannot support a Compressor by itself; multiple compressors share titanium lines. Practical pairings used in factories include dedicating one full titanium line to support several compressors and nearby Cryofluid Mixers. Separators and Disassemblers are common upstream producers of titanium — average outputs reported in large setups are helpful when planning how many drills or processors you need per compressor.
Oil supply: an
Oil Extractor on different terrain types produces widely varying oil. On light sand three Oil Extractors can run two compressors; on dark sand or shale two extractors can run three compressors. Surface oil, when available, greatly simplifies setup. Pumps also provide liquid oil: one
Rotary Pump handles about 3.2 compressors, and one
Impulse Pump handles about 7.92 compressors under standard conditions.
- Alternative oil via Spores: Producing oil indirectly through Cultivators feeding Spore Presses is viable. One Spore Press at full efficiency supplies one compressor with an excess of 3 oil/sec; that requires 3 Spore Pods/sec input to the press and significant water via Cultivators (five 100%-efficient Cultivators produce 3 Spore Pods/sec and need 90 water/sec from water extractors). Two Spore Presses can evenly support two Compressors plus a
Coal Centrifuge.
- Scaling and factory ratios: Typical scaled groupings include deploying 1, 3, 8, 11, or 40 compressors to match belt throughput tiers (examples: 1 compressor for testing, 3 to feed a
Tetrative Reconstructor continuously, 8 for an
Exponential Reconstructor, 11 to fill a blue belt, 40 to fill a green belt). A single titanium conveyor (11/s) can support up to about 5 Plastanium Compressors when arranged with
Cryofluid infrastructure; many builders aim for ratios like 4 Compressors to 6 Cryofluid Mixers to balance shared titanium usage and oil requirements.
- Infrastructure and placement: place Compressors near power sources and oil supply lines to reduce pumping costs and conveyor distance. Since compressors are power-hungry, cluster them near reactors or capacitors and consider adding battery backups to smooth supply during production bursts. Because they output a solid, route Plastanium away by conveyors or junctions to storage and assembly buildings; colocating with reconstructors reduces long transport runs.
- Efficiency tips: boosting drills or pumps (e.g., via power/weather boosts present on some maps or units) reduces the number of extractors/drills needed per compressor. When planning, use the terrain: titanium often occurs on shale tiles, which can simplify layout by colocating titanium production with oil extractors on shale. Group Plastanium and Cryofluid production to reuse titanium lines and centralize power and logistics for T4/T5 unit production.
Plastanium Compressors are central to late-game production chains; accurate balancing of oil, titanium, and power is necessary to keep them running at full efficiency.
