Heat Reactor

Heat Reactor is a production and heat-output building used in the game's heat network. It serves as an important node in heat-based logistics: it generates Fissile Matter as an output resource and emits Heat into adjacent heat conduits and buildings. Because of this dual role, Heat Reactor is commonly placed where both raw fissile output and steady heat contribution are required for downstream processes.

Heat Reactor behavior and uses:

• Produces Fissile Matter that can be collected by conveyors, payloads, or adjacent processing buildings. This production makes it a source of fissile material for late-game manufacturing and fuel chains.
• Provides Heat to the local heat network, raising temperatures of connected blocks and enabling heat-dependent production or conversion structures.
• Functions as a strategic component in combined setups where both a fissile resource stream and thermal energy are needed at the same location.

Practical interactions and strategy:

• Place Heat Reactors within an established heat network so their Heat output is distributed to heat consumers and storage; adjacency and conduit routing affect how efficiently the Heat is used.
• Heat Reactor can be used to sustain an Atmospheric Concentrator to produce Nitrogen: a Heat Reactor’s output can keep an Atmospheric Concentrator running, though an initial external heat input is required before the Heat Reactor’s own output can maintain the concentrator without that external source.
• Combine Heat Reactors with heat storage and transfer blocks to buffer pulses of Heat and smooth production for sensitive consumers.
• Collect Fissile Matter directly with conveyors or use nearby processing buildings that accept the material to avoid wasted output.

Historical note:

• The 3×3 variant of the Titanium (previously called Titan in some references) building consumed Fissile Matter as ammunition before that building’s ammo type was changed; this reflects past interactions between Fissile Matter production and heavy weapon/machine mechanics.

Because Heat Reactor occupies a central role in heat-based designs, planning placement for both its resource output and thermal influence is critical for efficient late-game infrastructure.
