Rotary Pump

Pumps and outputs liquids. Requires power.
Overview
Rotary Pump is an electric liquid pump that moves liquids from the tile it is placed on and outputs them at a fixed rate. It consumes 18 power per second and has a base output of 12 liquid per tile per second. Unlike simpler pumps, its throughput depends on the liquid it is sitting in: some liquids can be pumped at higher or lower rates than the base value.
Its output varies by tile type. It can produce 18/sec from

Placement has some important restrictions. When built on Deep Water-type tiles, the pump must contain at least one shallow-water-type tile or a non-empty, non-liquid tile either inside its footprint or along its non-corner edges. When built on Slag, Tar, Arkycite, or Cryofluid, it must also include at least one non-empty, non-liquid tile either inside its footprint or along its non-corner edges. If the pump would cover two different liquid terrain types at once, it cannot be placed; it does not choose the faster option automatically.
- The pump is powered, so it is only useful when the base has a stable electricity supply.
- Its best use is on liquid tiles where the full footprint can be positioned to satisfy the placement rules while still maximizing covered liquid.
- Because the output changes with the source liquid, it is worth checking the tile type before placing it, especially when deciding between Water-like terrain and more valuable liquids.
- It is not a universal liquid extractor; it depends on being built directly over valid liquid terrain and may fail to place if the footprint mixes incompatible liquids.
