Overview

The Surge Smelter is a production building that converts copper, lead, titanium and silicon into Surge Alloy. It was originally added under the name "Alloy Smelter" and at one time existed as a 2×2 block; in a later update it was renamed to Surge Smelter and its hit points were increased from 360 to 430.

The smelter consumes the four base materials as inputs and produces Surge Alloy as its output. According to available data, its throughput and requirements are:

  • Inputs: copper at 2.4/s, lead at 3.2/s, titanium at 1.6/s, and silicon at 2.4/s.
  • Power consumption: 240 power/s.
  • Production time: 1.25 s per production cycle.
  • Output: Surge Alloy at 0.8/s.

Practical notes for use:

  • Feed all four required materials at the indicated rates to sustain full production. Matching belt/duct throughput and buffering the raw materials helps avoid stalls during supply fluctuation.
  • The smelter is a relatively power-hungry building; ensure stable power delivery to avoid reduced production or shutdowns.
  • Because production is driven by a set cycle time and explicit input rates, upstream sorting and balancing (for example using routers or overflow logic) is useful to maintain continuous operation.
  • The block’s renaming and HP increase indicate it has been adjusted in updates; placement behind defenses or in protected production zones benefits from its increased durability.

History and visuals:
