Overview

Atlas is a large campaign sector encountered in Mindustry's campaign map system. As a sector, Atlas presents one or more enemy cores and one or more factories or unit production structures that must be neutralized in order to capture the sector. Standard campaign objectives apply: destroy the enemy core(s) while defending against attacking waves. After capture, re-attacks on Atlas switch the map's gamemode to Survival, requiring the player to hold the sector against repeated assaults.

Atlas commonly features timed attack waves on assault maps; the wave timer provides predictable windows to strengthen defenses and then make limited pushes against enemy installations between waves. Some releases or individual Atlas variants instead hide wave timers and allow enemy bases to pool and launch large concentrated pushes. On those versions, disrupting or destroying the enemy's unit production facilities is essential to reducing the threat level and preventing overwhelming attacks.

Practical notes for capturing and holding Atlas:

  • Prioritize disabling enemy unit production (factories, spawners, or similar buildings). Stopping production reduces both the frequency and size of waves.
  • Use the wave timer when present: build layered static defenses (walls, turrets, repair support) before the next assault, then sally forth to take out production and the core during downtimes.
  • Prepare for Survival-mode re-attacks: once Atlas is captured, fortify the captured base with redundant power, repair infrastructure, and overlapping turret coverage to withstand persistent enemy spawns.
  • Scout the map layout early to identify chokepoints and the locations of production buildings; controlling chokepoints lets you concentrate defenses and funnel enemy units into kill zones.
  • Combine long-range firepower for thinning waves with mobile units for fast strikes on production nodes and the core. Destroying production reduces the strain on defensive resources and shortens the time needed to clear the sector.
