Pedestal

Overview
The Pedestal is a display building used to showcase collectibles and other placeable items. It is primarily a decorative structure: items placed on it are presented visibly instead of being stored, making it useful for galleries, trophy rooms, and other base decoration projects. It is also one of the few ways to deliberately display certain objects in a controlled spot rather than leaving them on the ground.
The pedestal accepts a wide range of displayable objects, including artifacts, keepsakes, eggs, food, many plant seeds, and a number of other items that can exist stably at room temperature. Items on a pedestal are treated as a single displayed unit and do not behave like loose world objects in the same way they would in open storage. For example, displayed objects do not spoil, and some forms of equipment or materials can be shown as fragments rather than being packed away. In practice, this makes the building useful for both aesthetics and convenience when organizing valuable or unusual items.
A few practical details are worth keeping in mind:
- Building a Pedestal out of Sandstone or Granite grants a decor bonus, with Granite providing the larger bonus.
- When a liquid is selected for display, exactly 1000 g of the bottled liquid is placed on the pedestal, if available.
- This makes the Pedestal a handy tool for moving or presenting small amounts of bottled liquids, including use in liquid airlocks or other compact builds.
- Because it is a decor-focused building, it is commonly used to showcase artifacts and keepsakes obtained from space missions or story rewards.
- Items can be displayed rather than stored, which is important for objects that are meant to be exhibited and not bulk-managed in containers.
In Spaced Out!, artifacts are often found on Gravitas Pedestal structures at points of interest, then cleaned and displayed elsewhere. The Pedestal fits naturally into that loop by giving those recovered items a permanent home in the colony. Since many displayed objects contribute decor and some emit light, a well-placed pedestal arrangement can improve both the appearance and usefulness of a room, especially near workplaces or Bristle Blossom farms.
