Pincha Peppernut

Pincha Peppernut is a crop product harvested from a mature Pincha Pepperplant. A domestic plant produces 4 kg of Pincha Peppernuts every 8 cycles, averaging 500 g per cycle, and each mature plant yields 4 units per harvest. It is one of the ingredients used to turn basic meal ingredients into higher-quality food at the Gas Range, making it a useful crop for improving both calorie yield and morale from cooked meals.

Pincha Peppernut is used in several late-game and utility recipes:

• At the Gas Range, it is used to make Pincha Peppernut-based dishes such as Pepper Bread, Spicy Tofu, and Stuffed Berry variants.
• These recipes generally add calories and increase food quality compared to their base ingredients.
• At the Espresso Machine, 1 kg of Pincha Peppernut is consumed per use.
• At the Apothecary, 1 kg of Pincha Peppernut is converted into one unit of an immunity medicine.
• Pincha Peppernut can therefore support both morale production through food and colony support through medical and morale buildings.

Because Pincha Pepperplants can be irrigated with polluted water and survive in hot environments, Pincha Peppernut production is often paired with systems that already generate warm polluted water. The plant is capable of growing at temperatures from 35 °C to 85 °C, needs 150 g to 10 kg of atmospheric pressure, and grows in any atmosphere, so it is fairly flexible to place. Domestic plants require Phosphorite and Polluted Water, which also makes ranching Dreckos a natural way to supply fertilizer.

Useful notes:

• A domestic plant grows in 8 cycles, while a wild plant takes 32 cycles.
• The plant can be placed in a Farm Tile or Hydroponic Farm and must be oriented downward.
• Even if growth is halted, a domestic Pincha Pepperplant still consumes 1 kg/cycle Phosphorite.
• Hot polluted water can be routed through the farm as a way to dispose of excess heat and liquid.
• Since cooked food removes germs, germy polluted water can be used safely for irrigation without contaminating finished food.
• Pincha Pepperplants provide +15 decor within 2 tiles.
