Overview

Pikeapple Skewer is a cooked food made from Pikeapple at the Electric Grill. It restores Calories for Duplicants and can also be produced in larger amounts from the Gas Range using Grubfruit and a small amount of Lime, making it part of the game’s mid-tier cooked food options. Like other prepared meals, it can be stored, transported, and used as a steady source of nutrition for colonies that have access to the required ingredients.

Cooking 800 kcal of Pikeapple at an Electric Grill produces 1200 kcal of Pikeapple Skewer. On the Gas Range, 1000 kcal of Grubfruit plus 3 Lime can be cooked into 4200 kcal of Pikeapple Skewer, which makes it a much more calorie-dense conversion if the ingredients are available. As a food source, if Pikeapple Skewer is the only food a Duplicant eats, each Duplicant needs about 0.83 units per cycle, which corresponds to about 12.5 kg of Pikeapple per cycle in raw crop input.

Pikeapple Skewer is also edible by certain Critters. Hatches consume it at a rate of 700 kcal/cycle and convert it into 437.5 g/cycle of Coal, while Sage Hatches consume it at the same calorie rate and convert it into 583.3 g/cycle of Coal. This makes it useful not only as food but also as a feedstock for Coal production when you want to turn surplus meals into a renewable mineral resource.

Practical notes:

  • Use the Electric Grill recipe when you have Pikeapple and want a straightforward upgrade into a cooked meal.
  • Use the Gas Range recipe when you can spare Grubfruit and Lime, since it produces substantially more calories per input batch.
  • Feeding Pikeapple Skewer to Hatches or Sage Hatches is an effective way to route excess food into Coal production instead of letting it sit unused.
  • The raw Pikeapple requirement is significant if the meal is your colony’s main food, so it is best paired with reliable farming or a surplus ingredient chain.
