Security Door

Overview

Security Door is a ruin door found in some pre-generated structures. It separates rooms within ruins and is normally encountered as a security checkpoint that requires a duplicant bioscan to open from the correct side. In ruins with multiple chambers, additional Security Doors may be used as interior partitions.

There is an interior variant of Security Door, distinguished by its teal coloration. This version does not require a bioscan and behaves functionally like a Mechanized Airlock, except that it does not require power. Its access control is fixed to always allow all duplicants, and it cannot be changed.

A Security Door’s lock only works from one side. If duplicants are not lining up for the bioscan task, they are usually trying to interact with it from the wrong side. In that case, the door must be approached by digging around to the side with the bioscan interface. The door can only be opened by submitting a bioscan from the valid side; from the opposite side, duplicants inside the ruin cannot submit one to unlock it.

  • The locking mechanism is one-sided.
  • The bioscan prompt appears only after a duplicant can interact from the correct side.
  • Security Door cannot be removed by ordinary duplicant deconstruction work.
  • To destroy it, the door must be heated past its melting point.

Security Door is therefore less a standard colony building and more a ruin obstacle: it controls access, slows exploration, and often forces the player to excavate carefully around it rather than simply tearing it down. Its interior variant is more permissive, while the standard version is a true access barrier that requires a bioscan to bypass.
