Wood Heater
Overview
Wood Heater is a power-free building that uses wood to warm nearby Duplicants and help them recover from the effects of the cold. It also gives off light, making it useful as a small local heat and lighting source in cramped early-base areas or along travel routes where Duplicants are frequently exposed to low temperatures.
When enabled, a Wood Heater stores up to 45 kg of wood and consumes 25 g/s while active. It emits light up to 450 lux within 6 tiles, but its main purpose is the heat it produces rather than illumination. Solid tiles and other blocking terrain can interfere with its effective heating range, so it works best in open spaces where Duplicants can stand close to it.
In practice, a Wood Heater is most valuable where you need to dry out wet Duplicants and keep morale from dropping because of cold exposure. It is not meant to heat a whole base; instead, it is a localized comfort building that helps during early exploration, between hot and cold biomes, or in short-term living areas. Since it burns wood continuously while enabled, it is best used sparingly and placed where its warmth will affect the greatest number of passing Duplicants.
