Isosap

Isosap is a late-game resource that appears in both the base game and Spaced Out! In the base game, it can be found at random destinations on the starmap and recovered by sending a Rocket equipped with a Cargo Bay. In Spaced Out!, it is also produced by heating Liquid Resin until it undergoes a phase change, making it one of the products of that process.

In Spaced Out!, heating Liquid Resin above 125 °C converts it into 75% Steam and 25% Isosap. Because of this added production method, Isosap’s melting point was raised to 200 °C. The phase-change route makes Isosap obtainable from Resin-based colonies without relying solely on starmap finds.

Isosap is an important Molecular Forge ingredient. It is used to produce both Insulite and Visco-Gel Fluid, supporting high-end insulation and industrial fluid applications.

• Molecular Forge recipe for Visco-Gel Fluid: 35 kg Isosap + 65 kg Petroleum = 100 kg Visco-Gel Fluid

The material is notable for being tied to balance changes in older, existing resources. Insulite recreates Abyssalite’s extreme heat insulation properties from the period when it could be used directly in tiles, insulated tiles, and pipes, while Visco-Gel Fluid reflects the high viscosity that Petroleum-based gels previously had. As a result, Isosap sits at the center of several advanced crafting chains rather than serving only as a collectible resource.

When planning around Isosap, the main distinction is its source. In the base game, acquisition depends on starmap access and Cargo Bay transport, while in Spaced Out! it can be manufactured from Liquid Resin through heat. This makes it especially useful in colonies that can support controlled high-temperature processing, since the same resin feedstock also yields Steam as a major byproduct.
