Overview

Uranium Ore is a radioactive resource used primarily as feedstock for uranium processing and radiation-related builds. It can be found as a mineable asteroid element and, in Spaced Out!, can also be harvested on rocket missions from Radioactive Asteroid Fields or Radioactive Gas Clouds, where it appears at a renewable rate.

In practice, Uranium Ore is most valuable because it can be converted into Enriched Uranium. Mining a Uranium Ore tile yields ore at half the original tile’s value, which can then be refined in a Uranium Centrifuge into Enriched Uranium at 10% of the original tile’s value. Beeta Hives can also harvest Uranium Ore directly from natural tiles over time, recovering up to 90% of the original mass, making them far more efficient than mining for enrichment.

Uranium Ore also emits weak radiation when used in several constructions, which can be used for sterilization. It is used in or on:

It is also used by the Radiation Lamp to produce radiation and by the Manual Radbolt Generator to produce radbolts. Because of these properties, Uranium Ore has uses both as a processing input and as a convenient low-level radiation source for specialized setups.
