Pemmican

Pemmican is a high-calorie food made by processing Meat with Tallow. It turns a 1,600 kcal serving of Meat and 1 kg of Tallow into a 2,600 kcal meal, effectively preserving otherwise unused animal fat as extra edible calories. Because Tallow itself is not edible, Pemmican is a good way to convert surplus slaughter byproducts into food.

Its main advantage is efficiency for food production and achievement progress. Compared with cooking Meat into Barbecue, Pemmican adds far more calories per unit of input Meat, making it especially useful when you have a large supply of Tallow from creatures such as Spigot Seals. Since each 1 kg of Tallow becomes 1,000 extra kcal in the finished food, it is a strong option whenever your colony has more fat than immediate uses for it.

• Recipe: 1 unit of Meat (1,600 kcal) + 1 kg Tallow → 1 unit of Pemmican (2,600 kcal).
• Each kilogram of Tallow effectively contributes an additional 1,000 kcal.
• It is especially valuable for turning large amounts of animal byproduct into a more compact food reserve.
• It can make the Carnivore achievement easier by stretching meat supplies much further.
