Rover's Lander

Overview

Rover's Lander is a space-side deployment building used to place a Rover onto a planetoid once Rover's Module is in orbit. It serves as the final step in getting a Rover from orbital storage to the surface, making it the companion structure for rover-based early scouting and remote exploration.

The building can be deconstructed, and doing so refunds the 400 kg of metal ore used to construct it. Since the Rover it deploys is single-use and cannot be recharged, it should be put to work quickly after deployment. Even when it is idle and has no task assigned, the Rover continues to drain power at 180 kJ / 30 W, so it is best not to leave it sitting unused for long.

  • Rover's Lander only functions while Rover's Module is in orbit.
  • The Rover it deploys is disposable, so there is no way to recharge or reuse its battery reserve.
  • Because the Rover loses charge continuously, planning its first tasks in advance helps avoid wasting power.
  • If the building is no longer needed, deconstructing it recovers the full metal ore investment.
