A strange red flower

Overview

Desert Pea is a wildflower and foraging item that grows in the Desert after rain. It is one of the few plants that can be found in that biome, and like other desert flowers it appears after rainfall rather than staying present at all times. Flowers are the only things that grow back in the desert, making Desert Pea a reliable post-rain forage target.

To collect it, hit the plant with a weapon, scythe, or another suitable tool such as a jackhammer to dislodge it, then pick it up from the ground. Cutting down grass tufts can encourage new growth, which makes it easier to increase the number of flowers available in the area over time. Desert Pea can also be reproduced by placing it in Flower Beds or Pots next to an empty one of any kind, allowing players to spread it through their own garden setups.

Because it is a desert flower, Desert Pea fits naturally alongside other after-rain desert plants such as Prickly Pear and Spinifex Tuft. Its appearance is tied to the environment rather than to a fixed spawn point, so checking the Desert after rainy weather is the best way to find it. Since desert flora regrows only in this way, keeping an eye on the area after rain can be more productive than repeatedly revisiting it during dry weather.

  • Grows in the Desert after rain.
  • Can be dislodged with a weapon, scythe, or tools such as a jackhammer.
  • Picking it up after dislodging it adds it to your inventory.
  • Cutting grass tufts can help encourage more flowers to grow.
  • Can be propagated in Flower Beds and Pots by placing it next to an empty one.
  • Flowers are the only things that grow back in the desert.

The Desert Pea is also notable as a real-world floral emblem of South Australia, which matches its distinctive desert-flower identity in-game.
