Iron Ore

Overview
Iron Ore is an ore found throughout Dinkum that is used in advanced refining for tools, weapons, and other items. It is one of the key mid-to-late game materials, and players will usually start collecting it regularly once they can mine harder nodes and explore deeper into the island’s resource areas.
Iron Ore can be obtained by mining silver-colored Iron Ore rocks and large boulders with a pickaxe, or by grinding shiny stones in a stone grinder. Ore nodes appear across the island, with additional spawns in Rough Soil and in the Mine Deed levels or Airport areas. Spawn rates in Rough Soil increase as the player’s Mining Licence level rises, so mining progression directly improves access to the resource. Iron Ore nodes require a Copper Pickaxe or better to harvest.
Useful notes:
- Iron Ore is a crafting and refinement material rather than a direct consumable.
- It is tied to advanced tool, weapon, and item production.
- Mining in caves and other underground areas is especially efficient, since ore is easier to spot there.
- Ore nodes can respawn, so revisiting known mining areas is worthwhile.
- Iron Ore can also appear as possible loot from the Gacha Machine.
