Snow Ball

Snow Ball is a winter item obtained from Big Snow Balls during snowfall. Snowfall occurs on random days in Winter, and the Weather Station shows a special weather symbol when it is active. During a snowfall there are roughly 100 Big Snow Balls scattered around, making the season the only time Snow Balls can be gathered.

The usual way to collect them is to pick up a Big Snow Ball and throw it onto another Big Snow Ball to build a Snow Man. Making the Snow Man awards 5 Snow Balls, and destroying the finished Snow Man gives 6 more, for a total of 11 Snow Balls from the same set of snowballs. If you smash a Big Snow Ball directly, it only yields 2 Snow Balls, so building the Snow Man is the most efficient method.

Snow Balls are useful for winter crafting and also for playful combat between players. Snow ball fights can be started without PvP being enabled. They can be stored safely in storage containers, but if a Snow Ball is left on the ground after the snowfall ends and there is no snow, it will melt the next day.

Snow Balls are used in several crafting recipes, including at the Hunter's Crafting Table, Snow Brick, and the Ice Sculpting Table. One recipe requires 50 Snow Balls plus 10 of another material and 2 of a third material at the Hunter's Crafting Table. Other listed recipes use smaller quantities such as 15, 10, 20, and 1 Snow Ball in various combinations, showing that the item is a recurring winter crafting resource rather than a one-time collectible.

• Directly breaking a Big Snow Ball gives fewer Snow Balls than completing the Snow Man.
