Bug Book

Overview

The Bug Book is a utility item purchased from the Museum Deed after the player has donated 50% of the combined bug, fish, and critter collection. It is used to help identify bugs the player has already caught, making it a handy reference tool once the wildlife collection is well underway.

To use the Bug Book, place it in the tool bar and activate it. When used, it displays the names and prices of previously caught bugs above nearby bugs, letting the player quickly check what a catch is worth without opening a separate menu. This makes it especially useful while exploring, bug hunting, or deciding which insects are worth targeting for sale or collection.

  • The Bug Book only reveals information for bugs the player has already caught before.
  • If a nearby bug has not yet been caught, its information appears as question marks instead of a name and price.
  • Because it works from the tool bar, it is convenient to keep on hand while moving around the map rather than storing it away as a passive collection item.
  • Its availability is tied to Museum progress, so it becomes accessible after the player has contributed a substantial portion of the insect, fish, and critter collection.

In practice, the Bug Book is most valuable once the player starts encountering a wider variety of bugs and wants a fast way to compare them. It does not catch bugs or improve spawn rates; instead, it acts as a knowledge aid that helps identify valuable or already documented insects in the field.
