Basic Hammer

The Basic Hammer is a hunting weapon that can be crafted at the Crafting Table after obtaining Hunting Licence Level 1 from Fletch. It is a slow but heavy-hitting hammer, making it useful for striking enemies with strong damage and a chance to stun them. Like other hammers, it can be charged by holding Left-Click or X on an Xbox controller, which raises the weapon above the player’s head in preparation for the attack.

The Basic Hammer is also useful outside combat, since it can break Tin ore rocks and Copper ore rocks. This makes it one of the earliest tools that can both support hunting and help open access to basic ore deposits. Its durability can be repaired at the Repair Table, so it can remain useful for longer than a simple disposable weapon.

Because of its slow swing, the Basic Hammer works best when the player can commit to each hit or catch an enemy after it has finished an attack. Its stun chance gives it value in close-range fights, especially early on when stronger weapons are not yet available.
