Beach Chair
Overview
Beach Chair is a recreational building used by Duplicants during their downtime to relax in sunlight. It is designed to provide a morale bonus rather than serve as a true rest or recovery structure, and its stamina recovery is only enough to slow the normal base stamina drain from -70% per cycle to -20% per cycle. For that reason, it cannot replace beds or other dedicated sleep-related buildings.
A Beach Chair takes a long time to use: each session lasts 150 seconds, making it the longest-use recreational building. In return, it can provide a relatively strong morale bonus. If the tile at the lower-left of the chair has a light level of at least 10,000 lux, the chair counts as being in full sunlight. If the Duplicant spends at least 112.5 seconds of the use time in this lit state, the chair grants +8 morale. If that condition is not met, it grants +5 morale instead.
As a recreational building, Beach Chair has priority 4. Duplicants will prefer higher-priority recreation first, so it is best used as part of a broader recreation setup rather than as the only option available. Because it depends on sunlight for its best bonus, placement matters: the chair works well in bright areas and can be used to create a “beach room” style setup even in the Space Biome. A Sun Lamp is not required for it to function, and it does not necessarily interfere with Solar Panels.
Beach Chair also tiles together like the Mess Table and Planter Boxes, which makes it easier to build in compact rows and integrate into room layouts. This makes it useful when designing decorative or morale-focused spaces, especially when you want to combine recreation with efficient floor planning.
