Battery Module

Overview

Battery Module is a power storage building used to keep a colony supplied with electricity, especially in spacecraft or other constrained builds. It can be charged before takeoff, which makes it easier to power buildings during flight. Because it connects directly to the power grid, it can also be placed on the ground as a reserve battery bank.

Compared with a Jumbo Battery, the Battery Module offers higher energy density, produces no heat, leaks less power, and uses less metal. That makes it a strong choice for setups that rely on intermittent generation, such as Solar Panel arrays or Plug Slug-based power. Its main tradeoffs are that it requires a landing platform, takes up a fair amount of space, and has no automation ports.

A few practical notes:

  • Pre-charging one before launch makes ship power management much easier.
  • It is especially useful when you want storage without the heat output of a Jumbo Battery.
  • It can serve as a compact reserve bank, but its size still matters in tight builds.
  • It requires the appropriate advanced research before it can be used.
