Mini Liquid Pump

Overview

Mini Liquid Pump is a small liquid-transport building that is useful for moving limited amounts of liquid with minimal power. It is half the size of a Liquid Pump, and its power draw is one quarter of the larger pump’s, but it also moves only one tenth as much liquid. Because of that tradeoff, it is generally best used when only a small flow rate is needed or when a Liquid Pump cannot be placed.

The building is made of plastic, so it is a poor choice for high-temperature environments: plastic melts into naphtha at about 160 °C. In the DLC, the pump can instead be made from Plastium, which has a much higher melting point of 1826.9 °C and adds +900 °C overheat capacity, making it suitable for very hot liquids and industrial environments.

A notable difference from the Liquid Pump is that the Mini Liquid Pump’s liquid intake range does not match its building footprint. Its detection range is a 2×2 area anchored to the lower-left tile, while its occupied space is smaller than the area it can search. This makes it possible to pump liquid without the building directly touching the liquid at all. The mismatch between intake range and footprint also enables the usual vacuum-pumping setup: because the pump can draw liquid from outside its occupied tiles, it can be used to remove extremely hot liquids without immediately overheating the building, provided the surrounding conditions are managed correctly.

Practical use cases include:

  • moving small amounts of liquid where a full Liquid Pump would be overkill
  • saving power in low-throughput systems
  • fitting liquid transfer into tighter builds
  • vacuum-style pumping of superheated liquids when layout allows it

Despite its efficiency in power and size, the Mini Liquid Pump is not more efficient than the Liquid Pump in terms of throughput or space used per amount of liquid moved. It is a specialized tool, not a general replacement, and its low output makes it most valuable in niche designs rather than bulk liquid transport.
