Conveyor Rail Germ Sensor

Overview

The Conveyor Rail Germ Sensor is an automation building used to control conveyor-related systems based on the presence of germs. It lets a setup change behavior when germs are detected, making it useful for sorting, routing, or otherwise reacting to contaminated items before they continue through a transport network.

Like other germ sensors, it is part of the automation suite rather than a production building in its own right. Its main purpose is to provide a signal when germs are present, allowing players to build systems that respond automatically instead of relying on manual inspection. This makes it especially useful in bases that move food, polluted materials, or other contaminated cargo through conveyor rails.

In practice, the sensor is most valuable when paired with automation logic that decides whether a conveyor path should remain active. It can be used to:

  • trigger a shutdown or diversion when contaminated items are detected
  • keep germ-free items moving while stopping dirty cargo
  • support automated filtration or quarantine-style transport layouts

Because it only reports germ presence, its usefulness depends on the rest of the automation chain around it. It works best when connected to doors, conveyor switches, loaders, or other devices that can actually act on the signal it produces.
