Overview

The Fire Pole is a movement building used to speed up vertical travel through a colony. Duplicants can slide down it quickly, making it useful for shaft-based layouts and for reducing traffic delays in busy bases. It is especially effective when placed alongside Ladders, and pairing it with Plastic Ladders improves movement efficiency even further.

Because the Fire Pole is a tile-like structure, the material it is made from matters for heat transfer. Fire Poles built from highly conductive materials such as Wolframite or Aluminum Ore are useful when you want the structure itself to help move heat into or out of an area. This can make them a convenient part of cooling or heating arrangements, not just a mobility tool.

  • Place Fire Poles next to Ladders to create fast mixed-direction transit shafts.
  • Use them in the main spine of a base where Duplicants travel constantly.
  • Combining Fire Poles with Plastic Ladders gives the best movement throughput for vertical routes.
  • If built from a conductive material, the pole can also participate in thermal transfer, which can be either helpful or undesirable depending on the area.
