Sight-Seeing Module

Overview

The Sight-Seeing Module is a rocket module for carrying a Duplicant as a passenger on space flights. Unlike the Command Capsule, it is intended for a tourist rather than a pilot, and an astronaut must accompany sight-seeing Duplicants during rocket travel. It exists to let a Duplicant ride along without performing any work while the rocket is in transit.

Duplicants inside a Sight-Seeing Module do not require any life support and will not leave on their own unless the player issues the order, so the module can be used as a suspended-animation equivalent for travel. This also makes it useful for moving a Duplicant through hazardous space conditions without needing to maintain normal living support inside the rocket.

A few important interactions make the module risky to use if you are not prepared for landing:

  • When a rocket lands, a Duplicant in a Sight-Seeing Module is ejected immediately, rather than waiting for a Gantry to extend like a pilot in the Command Capsule.
  • To avoid dumping the Duplicant into the rocket’s residual thruster heat, give them a Jet Suit or Atmo Suit, or keep a Gantry extended under the module so they can exit onto it safely.
  • If that extended Gantry is used during landing or launch, it will break, but it still provides a safer exit than forcing the Duplicant to find solid ground in the exhaust zone.
  • If every Duplicant in the colony is placed into Sight-Seeing Modules, the colony is treated as having no living Duplicants and is marked as lost.
