Teleporter Receiver

Overview

The Teleporter Receiver is the incoming side of an intricate teleportation system, left behind as a functional remnant of what was once a much larger installation. In-world, it is part of the ruins associated with teleportation technology, and its description emphasizes that it is still operational even though the original system is long gone.

When a new game is started with the Teleporters option disabled in the game settings, teleporter ruins can still generate, but they will not contain either a Teleporter Transmitter or a Teleporter Receiver. This means the surrounding ruin structure may still appear, even if the teleportation components themselves are absent.

The Teleporter Receiver is also tied to one of the game’s most notable bits of lore. In the Research Note “A Paradox,” a Gravitas researcher reflects on the moral and ethical consequences of teleportation, strongly implying that teleporters do not move a subject intact, but instead create a copy while destroying the original. This makes the device more than just a strange piece of abandoned technology; it is also a hint at the unsettling history behind Gravitas research.

  • It is the receiving end of the teleportation system.
  • It appears as part of teleporter ruins.
  • If Teleporters are disabled at world creation, the ruins can still generate, but the Teleporter Receiver and Teleporter Transmitter will not spawn.
  • Its associated lore suggests that teleportation may involve cloning rather than true transport.
