Overview

Alveo Vera is a plant used primarily as an early oxygen source in the Ice Cave Biome. Its growth process consumes resources, and when cultivated by hand it also requires fertilizer. Because the Ice Cave Biome contains a very large amount of ice, Alveo Vera is a practical way to produce oxygen during the opening stages of a Ceres start.

In practice, Alveo Vera is most valuable when access to water is limited but ice is plentiful. Since the biome naturally provides a deep reserve of ice, it can support a steady supply of the plant’s inputs without immediately competing with the colony’s other water needs. This makes it especially useful for extending survival in the early game before more advanced oxygen systems are established.

  • It is best used as an early-game oxygen solution in cold regions where ice is easy to collect.
  • Hand cultivation requires fertilizer, so it is not completely free to maintain.
  • Its usefulness comes from the abundance of ice in the Ice Cave Biome, which makes sustained operation much easier there than in biomes with scarce frozen resources.
  • Because it depends on resource consumption during growth, it is a transitional oxygen source rather than a permanent replacement for industrial oxygen production.
