Overview

Iron Teeth is one of the playable factions in Timberborn. Iron Teeth beavers have a darker color that matches their fur, and the faction is visually represented by its own icon, portraits, and beaver models.

Iron Teeth is unlocked by reaching a Well-being of 15 while playing as the Folktails. Like the other factions, it ties into the game’s Population Well-being system, which is divided into Individual, District, and Global Well-being. Individual Well-being tracks how many Needs a single beaver has met and grants stat bonuses at various thresholds; District Well-being is the combined Well-being of all beavers in a district; and Global Well-being is the combined Well-being of all beavers in every district.

Beavers gain bonuses from higher Well-being thresholds. These include increased Work Speed for adults, Growth Speed for kids, Movement Speed, and Life Expectancy. Because Iron Teeth is a faction unlock tied to Well-being, it is naturally associated with the broader need-fulfillment and bonus progression systems that govern late-game colony performance.

Iron Teeth has buildings that are unique to the faction, including Barracks and Rowhouses. These structures distinguish the faction’s settlement style and help define its infrastructure options compared to the Folktails. The faction also has its own metal-related building content, reinforcing its industrial identity.

A few practical notes about Iron Teeth and the well-being systems:

  • Unlocking the faction requires a Folktails save to reach Well-being 15.
  • District Well-being is shown in District view next to the faction emblem, and clicking the number reveals a breakdown of met Needs.
  • Global Well-being is shown in Global view in the same location and breaks down Needs across all districts.
  • Clicking an individual beaver shows that beaver’s met Needs and current Well-being.
  • Higher Well-being directly improves key colony stats, so it is a major part of faction progression and population efficiency.

Iron Teeth’s model beaver was called Onager by the community.
