Overview

Timberbots are the autonomous robotic workers introduced in Timberborn that act as a permanent, programmable workforce separate from the colony’s beavers. They appear as buildable units (bots) that the player constructs and places; once deployed, Timberbots perform assigned tasks without consuming food or occupying beaver jobs, allowing the player to scale infrastructure and automation independently from population and food supply constraints.

Timberbots integrate with the game’s production and logistics systems. They are constructed in dedicated workshops once the required technology is unlocked, and they can be assigned to specific roles such as hauling, maintenance, or operating mechanical buildings. Because Timberbots do not need water, food, or housing, they are an efficient way to maintain critical services during droughts or population shortages and to preserve beaver labor for specialized tasks like farming, research, or construction.

Practical usage and interactions:

  • Use Timberbots to staff repetitive, high-throughput logistics tasks (for example, long-distance hauling between storage yards and production buildings) so beavers are free for essential colony activities.
  • Deploy Timberbots to maintain infrastructure in hazardous or remote locations where keeping beavers would be costly or risky during water shortages.
  • Construct and spread storage and charging infrastructure (if the version requires it) so Timberbots can operate continuously; place workshops and any necessary energy sources within reachable distance to reduce downtime.
  • Combine Timberbots with map planning: on maps with sparse resources or tight early-game water/food constraints, build a small fleet to handle resource routing while you focus beaver labor on expanding water, food, and wood production.
  • Timberbots are persistent assets—losing beaver population does not remove their workforce—so use them as a buffer against sudden population drops caused by droughts or contamination events.
  • Integrate Timberbots into automated layouts and modded content via the in-game map editor and available mod support to expand their capabilities or adapt them to custom scenarios.

Timberbots are a strategic automation tool that changes how a colony prioritizes labor, letting the player decouple raw logistic throughput from population management and focus beaver effort on growth and specialized production.
