Overview

Maple is a tree species in Timberborn introduced during Early Access. It produces syrup (added in Update 1) and yields wood when felled; its log yield was reduced in Update 4 when the tree was made Folktails-exclusive. The tree occupies a vertical 1×1×3 space in the world and follows the game's plant growth, harvest, and environmental rules like other trees.

Maple has a distinct set of in-game properties exposed by data mining and community documentation. It grows from a planted sapling into a harvestable resource over several days and can enter dry or drowned states if environmental conditions become extreme. The tree has a long-term harvest cycle, and it reproduces at a low base chance, so planning planting and replacement is necessary for sustained syrup and timber production. Maple remained part of the game across several updates, with its role refined (syrup added, log yield adjusted, and faction availability changed).

  • Practical notes:
    • Volume and footprint: 1×1×3.
    • Growth time from sapling to maturity: about 30.3 days.
    • Planting time (time to plant a sapling): ~1.1 hours (in-game time).
    • Time to fell (chop time): ~2.5 hours.
    • Harvest cycle (time between harvestable syrup/produce cycles): ~12 days.
    • Harvest action time: ~2 hours.
    • Reproduction chance (seedling spawn probability): 0.01 (1%).
    • Dry / wilt timing: base dry time ~15 days, random range 13.5–16.5 days.
    • Flood / drown timing: base drown time ~10 days, random range 9–11 days.
    • Display size and variation: width scale 0.9–1.2, height scale 0.8–1.2, rotation 0–360°.
    • Water level tolerated: minimum 0, maximum 0 (does not require standing water).
    • The tree’s properties above come from community-extracted game data and may be adjusted by official updates.

In real life, maples take many years to produce syrup and their wood is valued for instruments and flavoring certain spirits; this real-world trivia is noted by the community but does not directly change in-game mechanics.
