Overview

Folktails is one of the playable factions in Timberborn. It is the beaver faction associated with lighter-colored fur, and its settlement style centers on a distinct set of faction-specific buildings, including lodges and windmills. The faction’s starting housing is based around the lodge family, giving it early access to compact shelter options before expanding into larger multi-story housing.

At the beginning of the game, Folktails have two housing choices available immediately: the lodge and the lodge (mirrored). Both are 2x2 structures that house 3 beavers and cost 12 to build. The mirrored version is functionally the same as the lodge, with the difference being the position of the entrance.

As the faction progresses, it can unlock larger housing options. The mini lodge is a very small and inexpensive option, with a 1x2 footprint, housing for 1, a 50 science unlock cost, and a 5 build cost. The double lodge is the first two-story housing building, unlocked for 150 science and built for 20; it houses 6 and requires access to the second-floor entrance, so paths should be planned accordingly. The triple lodge is the largest housing option available to Folktails, measuring 3x2 tiles, standing two stories tall, housing 9, and costing 250 science to unlock and 35 to build. Like the double lodge, its entrance is on the second floor.

  • Folktails buildings are light-colored, matching the faction’s lighter fur.
  • The faction has a unique building set that includes lodges and windmills.
  • The demo faction, Beavers of Demoria, served as the base version for Folktails.
  • The faction’s model beaver was called Mangonel by the community.
