Overview

Lumber Mills are buildings in Timberborn with two main variants: Lumber Mill and Industrial Lumber Mill. The Lumber Mill was introduced during the game's Open Alpha and later became a faction-specific building for Folktails following Update 4. The Industrial Lumber Mill was introduced in Update 4, while an Iron Teeth Lumber Mill variant became obsolete and is no longer in active use.

Lumber Mill variants differ in workforce requirements, power consumption, and productive efficiency. The Iron Teeth variant was more efficient than the standard Lumber Mill: it employed two workers instead of one, consumed 50% more power, and produced about double the output in the same time frame. The Industrial Lumber Mill exists as a later addition to the available building roster following the update that consolidated the Lumber Mill as a Folktails-only structure.

Power connectivity for Lumber Mills follows a specific rule: they can connect to Power from all sides except the doorway, and they can also receive Power from underneath. This connectivity allows placement flexibility for power networks while reserving the doorway side clear for passage.

  • Lumber Mill and Industrial Lumber Mill are distinct variants; the Lumber Mill became Folktails-only as of Update 4.
  • The Iron Teeth Lumber Mill variant was an obsolete, more efficient design that employed two workers, used 50% more power, and produced about double the output compared to the standard variant.
  • Lumber Mills accept Power connections from any side except the doorway, and additionally accept Power from beneath the building.
  • The Lumber Mill first appeared in the game's Open Alpha; later changes introduced the Industrial Lumber Mill and reassigned the standard Lumber Mill to Folktails.
