Breeding Pod

Overview
The Breeding Pod is an
Iron Teeth building that produces new beavers on a resource-driven cycle rather than relying on natural pair-based breeding. Once supplied with berries and water and staffed by a worker, a Breeding Pod will spawn a new kit every 5 in-game days. Breeding Pods give Iron Teeth players direct control over population growth: building additional pods increases production capacity, while stopping construction or demolishing pods halts new births. Breeding Pods still obey housing limits — new kits will not enter the population if there is no available dwelling space.
Breeding Pods are considered a non-essential building type in terms of work scheduling, so beavers only tend them during their working hours unless they are unemployed; an unemployed beaver will maintain Breeding Pods even outside standard shifts. Kits produced by a Breeding Pod require maturation time before becoming productive members of the colony. Kit maturation takes approximately 6 in-game days during which kits consume food and water and count against housing but cannot work.

- A Breeding Pod consumes berries and water each cycle and must be staffed to operate. Keep supply lines and storage available to avoid interruptions.
- Production interval is 5 days per kit; plan production at least 6 days ahead if you need workers after maturation.
- Advanced Breeding Pod produces adults immediately, useful for rapid workforce recovery after disasters.
- Population capacity is still limited by available housing; ensure spare housing before producing many kits.
- Use this formula to estimate pod capacity for your colony: (Max_Age of your beavers) / 5 = population maintained by a single Breeding Pod.
- An unemployed beaver will tend pods immediately; place an unemployed beaver in a district to have new pods staffed right away.
- Avoid spawning kits right before daybreak where possible, as timing can affect life expectancy due to game mechanics.
- Stopping construction or demolishing pods is an effective way to pause Iron Teeth population growth when resources are tight or if you must prepare for droughts.
Breeding Pods give precise, scalable control over Iron Teeth population growth and integrate with broader planning concerns such as food and water reserves, housing capacity, and workforce timing. Use them to expand deliberately during temperate seasons, and rely on Advanced Breeding Pods when immediate labor is required.
