Overview

The Double Floodgate is a building used to control water flow and maintain water levels in river and dam systems. It can block water up to two tiles of depth and sits in the Floodgate/Dams category of buildings. The gate’s primary function is to act as an adjustable barrier: raising the gate increases the depth of water that is held back, while lowering it allows water to spill over and flow downstream.

The Double Floodgate’s adjustment range spans 0.0 to 2.0 tiles, giving a maximum blocking depth of 2.0 tiles. The height can be set in fine increments of 0.05 tiles, allowing precise control of water levels. Many interfaces and guides list five common preset positions—2.0, 1.5, 1.0, 0.5, and 0.0—which correspond to Completely Closed (2.0), three Partially Closed/Open settings (1.5, 1.0, 0.5), and Completely Open (0.0). Water that rises above the configured height will spill over the floodgate; water at or below the configured height will not percolate through the building or pass above it.

There is a synchronization option that, when enabled, matches the height of adjacent Floodgates automatically. This synchronization option is enabled by default and simplifies coordinated control of multi-gate systems.

  • The usable adjustment range is 2.0 tiles (from 0.0 to 2.0).
  • Height is adjustable in increments of 0.05 tiles, allowing fine-grained water-level management.
  • Common presets are 2.0 (completely closed), 1.5 / 1.0 / 0.5 (partially closed/open), and 0.0 (completely open).
  • A gate set to X tiles blocks up to X tiles of water depth; any water level above X spills over.
  • Water at or below the set level does not percolate through or over the gate.
  • Adjacent Floodgates can be synchronized; synchronization is on by default.

Use the Double Floodgate to hold reservoir levels, prevent downstream flooding during storms, or fine-tune flow for water-powered buildings. Synchronizing adjacent gates helps maintain consistent water head across a dam or channel, while the fine 0.05 increment control enables subtle adjustments when balancing storage versus flow.
