Cyanogen

Used for ammunition, construction of advanced units, and various reactions in advanced blocks. Highly flammable.
Overview
Cyanogen is an in-game liquid resource that functions as both a construction material for advanced buildings and units and as an ammunition-type fluid for certain turrets. Although the Mindustry interface groups it among liquids, the internal data and real-world reference identify Cyanogen as a gaseous chemical; the game therefore treats it with properties that reflect a volatile, gas-like substance. Cyanogen appears on the planet Erikel in the game and carries a distinctive light green color in its fluid tint.
Cyanogen is notable for its very high flammability and energetic combustion. The real-world chemical Cyanogen is a toxic diatomic gas with formula (CN)2 and burns at extremely high temperatures; the game mirrors this by assigning high burn-related stats and by using Cyanogen as a damage-boosting ammo for liquid-based weaponry. The Sublimate weapon in particular benefits from Cyanogen, gaining increased damage and pierce when fueled by it.
Key properties and technical identifiers:
- In-game liquid ID: #7; English ID: cyanogen.
- Color hex: #89E8B6.
- Classified as a gas-like fluid within the liquid category (listed as gas = yes).
- Explosive: 0%.
- Flammability (
Burning): 200%. - Heat capacity: 50%.
- Viscosity: 50%.
- Temperature: 50%.
- Boiling point indicator: -1.
Practical notes for use and gameplay:
- Use Cyanogen as a fuel/ammo in liquid-fed turrets and weapons that accept volatile fluids; it increases offensive effectiveness when compatible (notably, it amplifies
Sublimate’s damage and pierce).
- Employ caution in storage and piping layouts because of Cyanogen’s high burning value; direct contact with heat sources or incendiary attacks can produce stronger fires than typical liquids.
- Cyanogen is intended as a mid-to-late-game resource linked to advanced production and unit construction; secure steady sourcing on Erikel or other maps that provide it.
- Because Cyanogen is non-explosive but highly flammable, containment failures are unlikely to detonate, but they will create intense fires that can rapidly damage nearby structures and units.
Trivia: the real chemical Cyanogen burns at around 4525 °C (8177 °F), which may be the inspiration for the increased damage and piercing behavior assigned to Cyanogen-fueled weapons in the game.
