Radbolt Joint Plate

Overview

Radbolt Joint Plate is a utility building that allows Radbolts to pass through walls. It functions similarly to a Radbolt Reflector in that it has a Radbolt entry and exit, but unlike the reflector, its exit direction cannot be adjusted independently. Instead, the building is rotated to change the relative position of its input and output.

A Radbolt Joint Plate can only be constructed from Plastic or Solid Visco-Gel. It is primarily used to route Radbolts across solid barriers while keeping the beam path connected, making it useful in compact research setups and other layouts where straight-line travel would otherwise be blocked.

One notable quirk is that its radiation resistance follows the calculation used for natural tiles rather than the one used for building tiles, which appears to be a bug. As a result, its effective radiation resistance is lower than would normally be expected for a built tile. The available values given for the two supported construction materials are:

  • Plastic: 31.45%
  • Solid Visco-Gel: 22.2%

Because the exit cannot be aimed directly, placement matters. The building should be oriented so that the incoming Radbolt reaches the entry side and the outgoing path lines up with the intended destination after rotation. This makes the Radbolt Joint Plate best suited for fixed beam paths where the route is known in advance.
