Old Contraption

The Old Contraption is a salvaged junk item that can be found through scavenging and treasure hunting rather than crafted directly. It is obtained by breaking Old Barrels, Wheelie Bins, Satellites, and Car Relics, and it can also appear inside Wooden Chests in the Deep Mine or be dug up while Metal Detecting.

Because it comes from several different scrap sources, the Old Contraption is a useful item to keep whenever you are clearing abandoned containers, exploring the Deep Mine, or working a Metal Detector patch. It is one of the many salvage-type items that can be turned up alongside other household junk and machine parts, so it is worth checking any source of buried or breakable debris rather than ignoring it as simple trash.

In town progression, the Old Contraption is also used as a required building material for Fletch’s Deed. When it is part of that deed requirement, the deed takes 2 nights to complete and rewards Town Debt.

• Break Old Barrels, Wheelie Bins, Satellites, and Car Relics to collect it.
• Search Wooden Chests in the Deep Mine for additional chances to find it.
• Use a Metal Detector to dig it up from treasure spots.
• Keep a few on hand if you are preparing Fletch’s Deed, since it is required among the placed building materials.
