Mine Pass
Overview
The Mine Pass is the ticket required to enter the Mine in Dinkum. It is used together with a Mine Deed, which must be placed first to construct the mine entrance. Once the entrance exists, the pass is consumed for access through the elevator control panel and is the key item that lets the player descend into the underground area.
To use a Mine Pass, go into the elevator at the mine entrance and interact with the control panel to travel down. After entering the Mine, the player can move freely between the mine interior and the elevator. However, leaving the Mine by using the control panel to return to the surface ends that pass’s validity; a new Mine Pass is required to re-enter, even if the player wants to go back to the same mine level on the same day.
In multiplayer, the host must have the Mine Pass, and all players must be inside the elevator before the descent begins. This makes the pass a shared requirement for the group’s entry rather than something each player uses independently.
A few practical points matter when planning mine trips:
- Make sure a Mine Deed has already been placed, since the Mine Pass alone does not create access.
- Enter the Mine with supplies ready, because returning to the surface means spending another Mine Pass to go back in.
- In multiplayer, coordinate before entering the elevator so everyone is present and the host is carrying the pass.
- If you leave the Mine by the elevator, you can still move between the elevator and the Mine afterward, but re-entry from the surface needs a fresh pass.
- The Mine Pass is separate from revival rules: if a player passes out in the Mine and uses the revive option, they respawn back at the elevator with health and stamina depleted rather than losing the pass’s function.
When a player passes out in the Mine and revives, they return to the elevator area with their health and stamina depleted. In single player, reviving costs roughly one-third of the maximum durability of all tools in the inventory and 20% of carried Dinks. In multiplayer, a nearby player or an NPC companion can revive the fallen player instead, preventing those losses. In either case, the Mine Pass is still governed by the same entry rules: once the player leaves through the elevator control panel, another pass is needed for the next descent.
