Overview

The Duchess is a playable Nightreign character introduced as a virtuous thief of noble bearing. Presented as the adopted daughter of a viscount, she earned the nickname “Duchess” because her daring, swift thefts went unpunished and inspired respect. She appears at the Shrouded Roundtable Hold as the white‑hooded Priestess near the Table of Lost Grace and allied with the Nightfarers to oppose the Night’s Tide, urging cooperation to defeat the Night Lord.

Physically she wears a fine tunic and leather attire, a silver mask that hides a youthful face, white gloves, and long blonde hair tied in a low ponytail. Her weapon of choice is the dagger: she begins runs with Duchess’ Dagger (Magic Dagger, base Physical listed in sources) and favours fast dagger chains. Her Chalice on start is Duchess’ Urn (Red, Blue, Blue).

Mechanically the Duchess is a Dexterity‑class stealth and burst specialist. She has high agility and evasion but relatively low defenses, and scales into damage and survivability through precise play, artifacts, and skill use. Her kit emphasizes reprisal and obscuration:

  • Passive — Magnificent Pose: reduces stamina cost of attacks and evasive actions, permits up to two consecutive evasive maneuvers, and encourages repeated dodging to maintain momentum.
  • Character Skill — Restage: replays the last ~5 seconds of damage and static effects dealt to enemies directly in front of her, applying that reprisal to nearby foes. It can be activated during most animations (including while taking hits) but not while downed; it does not duplicate riposte damage.
  • Ultimate Art — Finale: grants an immediate short i‑frame window followed by a long invisibility effect for the Duchess and nearby allies (instant 3 seconds of i‑frames then about 15 seconds of invisibility). Enemies may still attack an invisible ally from the last position where that ally dealt damage to them.

Stats at early levels show emphasis on Vigor and Dexterity with modest Strength and Arcane; example level scaling lists HP/FP/Stamina growth and sample attribute scaling (VIG high, END/STR low). Her starting equipment and relic synergies push her toward dagger chains, magic affinity boost on daggers, and enhanced Character Skill damage.

Practical notes, strengths and recommended builds:

  • Play as a hit‑and‑run skirmisher: use high mobility and Magnificent Pose to weave in dagger chains, escape, then Restage to replay burst damage into groups or bosses.
  • Finale functions as both an offensive repositioning tool and a strong support utility for stealthy teamplay; pair with allies who can exploit enemies distracted or misdirected by the invisibility window.
  • Relics that boost Character Skill power, dagger attack power, magic attack, and FP maxima are top priorities. Golden Dew and other guaranteed relics that improve skill damage or FP sustain are particularly effective.
  • Effects that shorten Character Skill cooldown, restore HP/FP on successive attacks, or increase damage after defeating Evergaol prisoners synergize well with her replay and combo playstyle.
  • She is fragile; invest in evasive relics, stamina recovery with attacks, and HP/FP sustain to offset low defenses.
  • Unlocking requires interacting with the Roundtable Hold priestess: obtain the Old Pocketwatch from a Nightlord encounter (drops differently depending on battle outcome), show it to the Priestess and choose to give it to her to unlock the Duchess as a playable character.
  • Completing her remembrance questline at the Roundtable through multiple parts (interacting with Wylder, the Raider, Revenant and Iron Menial, and finishing episodes to receive rewards) yields thematic rewards such as Duchess’ Chalice, Duchess’ Remembrance Outfit and the Blessed Iron Coin.

Unique relic effects tied to the Duchess grant bonuses like increased attack while Arts are active, improved Character Skill attack power, stealth/silence after critical backstabs, and dagger chain reprisals that affect nearby enemies; prioritize relic combinations that stack Character Skill power and dagger/magic damage for the most effective builds.
