Executor

Overview
The Executor is a playable character introduced in ACH00. He is a condemned Crucible Knight from the Land of Reeds who serves as a Nightfarer charged with confronting the Night Lord to prevent a calamity in the
Limveld region. When not selected as the player character, the Executor is present at the Roundtable Hold. His visual identity emphasizes a cursed katana and a gold-imbued blade produced by his deflection mechanics.
The Executor’s core concept centers on unsheathing and actively deflecting with a living cursed sword. His Character Skill, Cursed Blade, draws this sword; successful deflections both protect and charge the blade, eventually revealing its living form and enabling powerful follow-up attacks. While the enchanted blade is drawn the Executor cannot run. The deflection system is explicitly similar to the Deflecting Hardtear and to the posture/deflect mechanics seen in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice; repeated, well-timed deflects imbue the sword with gold and unlock the special attack.
Executor’s passive Tenacity grants boosted recovery when recovering from status ailments, improving both attack and stamina recovery speed. His Ultimate Art, Aspects of the Crucible: Beast, transforms him into a primordial beast form that consumes the Ultimate Art gauge while active; activating the art again quickly reverses the transformation. Unique relic effects tied to the Executor modify how his Character Skill and Ultimate behave — for example, his Character Skill boosts attack at the cost of draining HP while active, and unlocking the cursed sword can restore HP on some relics. Other Executor-specific relic modifiers include roaring (during art) restoring HP, and Deep Relics that alter primary stats (e.g., improve Dexterity and Arcane while reducing Vigor, or vice versa) or slowly restore HP on ability activation.
Starting equipment favors katana weaponry. The Executor begins runs with the Executor’s Blade (katana, skill: Unsheath) which deals both physical and blood loss damage (62 physical, 30 blood loss at the listed starting values) and may switch to the Suncatcher katana. He generally prefers katanas; several recommended relic effects further emphasize katana power, bleed/frostbite starts, or skills that change compatible armament skills to Seppuku or Chilling Mist at expedition start.
Practical gameplay and build notes:
- Prioritize timing and learning enemy attack windows to maximize the deflect-to-reveal loop; gold-imposed blade follow-ups are the Executor’s main damage window.
- The tradeoff of HP drain during some skill uses means pairing relics or gear that restore HP on activation or post-damage partial HP restoration greatly increases survivability.
- Relics that improve katana attack power, add bleed/frostbite on starting armaments, or provide stamina recovery on successful attacks synergize strongly.
- Consider Arcane and Dexterity scaling: the Executor benefits from Dexterity-heavy investment and some Arcane depending on chosen relics; Deep Relics may shift stat priorities.
- Use the Ultimate Art transformation situationally: beast form grants unique attacks and HP-regeneration interactions on certain relics but consumes the gauge while active; canceling the art quickly is possible by reactivating.
Cosmetics include multiple garbs unlocked by progression (Default, Remembrance, Dawn, Darkness, Thorns, Sable Church), with some requiring Nightlord defeats or Sovereign Sigils. The Executor has a Remembrance quest tied to his story, and his remembrance hints at a duality—an implication that he possesses two souls, with references to “two faces, one sword.” Promotional trailers and gameplay reveals showcase his gold-imbued blade and unsheathing animations.
