Wylder

Overview
Wylder is a playable Nightfarer in Elden Ring: Nightreign, introduced as a nomad swordsman whose clan was slaughtered and who has long pursued the Night Lord to prevent further tragedy in
Limveld. He appears as one of the game’s four hero characters and serves as the franchise mascot for Nightreign; if not selected as the player character he can be found at the Roundtable Hold and speaks with a
Wylder’s visual design pairs a blue tunic marked with arcane sigils and wing motifs on his helmet with sleek medium armor. He fights primarily with Greatswords and carries a small buckler; his starting armaments are Wylder’s Greatsword (unique greatsword moveset, starting damage listed as 80 Physical) and Wylder’s Small Shield (buckler parry with 40 Guard Boost). He also uses a wrist-mounted stake driver that functions as a grappling claw and can prime explosive stakes—this device is tied to his Character Skill and Ultimate Art.
Gameplay roles and core mechanics emphasize all-around versatility. Wylder has balanced offense, defense, and mobility and is tuned as a generalist suitable for new players while remaining viable for more specialized builds. His notable passive is Sixth Sense, which causes a special dodge that activates once to avoid a lethal hit; the passive refreshes when resting at Sites of Grace. His Character Skill, Claw Shot, fires the wrist grappling claw to pull enemies closer or quickly reposition by retracting. His Ultimate Art, Onslaught Stake, primes and thrusts an explosive iron stake: it deals heavy damage on impact, can be charged to greatly increase explosion damage and stun, and can hit multiple targets.
Stat scaling and relic interactions reinforce Wylder’s mixed role. At low levels he shows respectable Mind, Intelligence and Faith scaling (both listed as C at level 15 for MND, INT and FTH; ARC appears as C at 10 in the referenced stats), and his base growth places emphasis on HP, Strength and Dexterity while remaining average across attributes. Wylder’s Art gauge fills greatly when activating his abilities, and his attacks gain fiery follow-ups under certain relic effects. Several unique relic effects directly modify his kit: additional Character Skill uses, Art activations that spread fire, follow-up attacks on greatsword use, stamina recovery on hit, and the potential for his Character Skill to apply Blood Loss when using deeper relics.
Practical notes for playing Wylder:
- Build around greatswords to take advantage of his unique moveset and the numerous relics that boost greatsword performance. Physical attack and greatsword-specific boosts are high priority.
- Use Claw Shot both offensively (to pull foes into Onslaught Stake range) and defensively (to retract and evade). The wrist device enables creative positioning and combos.
- Charge Onslaught Stake against grouped or stagger-prone enemies to capitalize on its explosion and stun; it benefits from relics that spread fire or increase Art gauge fill.
- Equip relics that grant extra Character Skill uses and stamina recovery to extend offensive windows; effects that restore HP after post-damage attacks and improve poise or damage negation synergize well with his frontline playstyle.
- Wylder’s Sixth Sense provides a safety net in tight encounters; rest at Sites of Grace to restore this passive before difficult fights.
- Cosmetic unlocks and chalices: Wylder has multiple garb cosmetics unlocked via Remembrance quests, Nightlord defeats, or Sovereign Sigils. A set of chalices and special urns are connected to his progression and collectible systems (some purchasable from the
Small Jar Bazaar or Collector Signboard, others unlocked by defeating Nightlords).
Wylder’s lore ties him directly to Nightreign’s central conflict: a swordsman driven by sixth sense and vengeance, relentless in his pursuit of the Night Lord to avenge his fallen clan and avert a looming calamity in Limveld.
