Dark Panel 1

Overview
Dark Panel 1 is a map sector block encountered in Mindustry campaign play on the Sunken Pier map. It occupies part of the derelict mega-ruin and functions as a fixed location containing salvageable structures and terrain features that influence base placement, defenses, and resource extraction. The central island of the map contains the player core at (214,190), with Dark Panel 1 present among the ruined complex where metal flooring is partially submerged and naval paths exist. The map is 450×450 tiles with a drop zone radius of 37.5 tiles, initial wave spacing of 280 seconds and regular wave spacing of 130 seconds.
Dark Panel 1 sits amid widespread patchy tiles and submerged metal floors that block normal block placement in coastal strips while allowing naval units to traverse. The derelict ruin that includes Dark Panel 1 yields valuable salvages: several factory- and power-related blocks, plus containers of common early-game resources. The ruin commonly provides large quantities of metal and other components useful for early production and tech progression; notable salvages across ruins on this map include two large production blocks and an energy-producing setup, making the area attractive for capture and deconstruction.
Hostile spawns on the Sunken Pier map occur from four fixed spawn points: the southwest corner (50,76), the southeast corner near the core (356,144), a northern spawn slightly east of the northern edge (283,413), and the northeast corner (412,416). Initial waves come from the northeast point and each spawn slowly increases its output as the game progresses. Guardians spawn from the northern points; the southwest spawn contributes the lone southern guardian.
Practical notes for operating around Dark Panel 1 and the adjacent ruin:
- Expect restricted building areas along the submerged metal coast; plan base layout on the central island and nearby smaller islands with available non-deep water patches.
- Salvage the derelict structures early to obtain production and energy blocks plus abundant metal for initial expansion and research.
- The map’s guardians deliver high-damage beam attacks. Build multiple layers of strong walls (
Plastanium or equivalent) and use repair-capable support to survive guardian bursts; single thin walls are insufficient.
- Surface oil patches near the ruin support Launch Pads and make the sector efficient for exports; prioritize securing these patches if you plan economic play.
- Air units begin appearing early (first air unit at wave 9) and piercing laser units appear later (wave 29); place anti-air defenses and prepare for units that bypass ground chokes if they approach from southern or southeastern directions.
- Timing of waves and the drop zone radius constrain expansion; use the long initial spacing (280s) to establish a robust base before sustained assaults begin.
- Deconstruct values and exact salvage contents vary by ruin sub-location; clear nearby derelicts methodically to maximize recovered blocks and resources for advancing research and defenses.
Dark Panel 1 was added in Build 152 as part of the Sunken Pier sector and remains a strategic early-to-mid game location because of its salvage value, constrained placement terrain, and challenging multi-directional spawn behavior.
