Blast Compound

Blast Compound is an explosive item used across multiple offensive and power-generation systems. It is produced by the Blast Mixer from Pyratite and Spore Pods and appears on the planet Serpulo. In-game it functions primarily as a bomb material and explosive ammunition component, and it interacts dangerously with many generator and storage mechanics.

Blast Compound has high explosive potency (120% explosive) and moderate flammability (40% burning), with zero radiation, zero conductivity, and zero hardness. It cannot be used for constructing buildings. The item’s internal ID is blast-compound and its display color is #FF795E.

Blast Compound’s primary uses and interactions:

• It is used directly as a bomb or loaded into explosive ammunition types to greatly increase damage output.
• When consumed by most power generators for fuel, Blast Compound causes the generator to explode rather than run normally; the Impact Reactor is an exception and accepts it as intended fuel for its special behavior.
• It is a required input for the Impact Reactor when that reactor’s mechanics consume explosive materials.
• Some units, particularly flying units, can perform suicide attacks using Blast Compound as their explosive payload; these suicide strikes deal very high damage.
• Stored Blast Compound in Vaults or similar storage can become a catastrophic liability: if a Vault containing Blast Compound is destroyed, the resulting detonation inflicts massive area damage.

Practical notes and strategy:

• Use Blast Compound in purpose-built explosive weaponry and suicide units for maximum offensive effect, but avoid storing large quantities in vulnerable storage close to your base or power infrastructure.
• If you plan to use it as fuel or in reactors, prefer Impact Reactors where intended; feeding Blast Compound into ordinary generators will destroy them.
• Treat transport routes carrying Blast Compound as high-risk and protect conveyors, payloads, and warehouses with defenses or redundancy to prevent chain-reaction losses.
• Because of its high explosion stat, Blast Compound is ideal for area-denial weapons and demolition tasks but requires careful handling within factory and power networks.

Trivia: in an April Fools' 2022 build, Blast Compound’s sprite was temporarily changed to resemble an Among Us crewmate.
