Large Door

A wall that can be opened and closed.
Overview
Large Door is a defensive building-class block that functions as a reinforced, player-placed gateway in base layouts. It occupies a 2x2 footprint and provides a durable opening that enemy units can crush through but that can be repaired and reinforced like other walls. Large Door is used to control chokepoints, create repairable entrances in layered defenses, and funnel enemy movement while still allowing friendly units and conveyors to pass.
Large Door has substantially higher health and sturdiness than single-tile doors or standard walls of comparable material, making it a preferred choice where a wider, maintainable breach is needed. It integrates with the rest of base wiring and conveyor placements by allowing placement in straight corridors and across river crossings or wall lines; its larger size gives it better resistance to concentrated attacks and reduces the number of individual gaps defenders must replace during waves.
Practical usage and strategy:
- Place Large Door in chokepoints where you need a two-tile-wide passage for units or conveyors while preserving defensive integrity. Its 2x2 size simplifies routing but creates a larger target, so combine it with layered walls on either side.
- Use Menders or repair units near Large Doors to quickly restore them between waves. Menders are efficient because Large Door is a fixed structure that benefits from steady healing rather than expensive replacement.
- Funnel enemies: position additional walls or obstacles to guide attackers toward the door so your turrets can concentrate fire on a predictable path. Large Door helps maintain a controlled funnel while allowing friendly movement.
- Pair with heavy walls: when enemy DPS is high, surround the door with higher-tier walls or build multiple adjacent wall layers to absorb flamethrower or piercing attacks that would otherwise break a single defensive layer.
Conveyor and vehicle considerations: because Large Door spans multiple tiles, plan conveyor routes and unit paths to avoid blocking the doorway or creating chokepoints that trap your own units.
- Repair priority: in long waves or boss attacks, prioritize repairing Large Doors over decorative or nonessential blocks because doors are common enemy targets and repairing them preserves your defense layout.
- Construction and economy: treat Large Door as a strategic investment in durability; place it where repeated repair costs are offset by the saved time and resources compared to rebuilding many smaller wall segments.
Large Door functions as a durable, maintainable opening for organized defenses and is most effective when combined with menders, layered walls, and intentional pathing to maximize turret effectiveness while preserving base mobility.
