Overview

The Shield Projector is a Mindustry building that generates a polygonal force field to approximate a circular shield. The projector creates a barrier composed of an icositetragon (a 24-sided polygon), which gives the shield a near-circular appearance while being implemented as a discrete multi-segment shape.

The Shield Projector can be brought into a mobile context: an active Shield Projector can be loaded into any unit that has a payload capacity of at least 3×3. The projector must be powered and active when loaded to remain in that state while carried. Despite being carried in an active state, the loaded projector is largely cosmetic in that it does not meaningfully block or impede enemy units while mounted as a payload. If a Power Source item is loaded alongside the projector, the projector can become functional after being unloaded even when there are no external power sources present.

Historically, Shield Projectors appeared in older versions of the Aegis content branch. In those versions a specific counter existed: the Shield Breaker item could be activated with 100 Tungsten to destroy Shield Projectors instantly.

  • The shield generated by the projector is implemented as a 24-sided polygon (icositetragon) to simulate a circular barrier.
  • An active projector can be loaded into units with at least 3×3 payload space; it must be powered and active when loaded to retain activity while carried.
  • A loaded, active projector does not significantly block or ramp enemy units and functions mainly as a visual or tactical device when carried.
  • Loading a Power Source item with the projector allows the projector to function after being unloaded even if no external power grid is present.
  • In older Aegis versions, the Shield Breaker consumed 100 Tungsten to instantly destroy Shield Projectors.
