Overview

Pyratite is an in-game raw material used for ammunition, power generation, and as an intermediate in explosive chemistry. Its name and behavior echo the real mineral pyrite (fool’s gold); in Mindustry it is characterized by very high flammability, which makes it valuable for flame-based weapons and fuel-burning generators. Pyratite is produced by the Pyratite Mixer and is a component in Blast Compound.

Pyratite functions in three primary roles: as ammo for several turrets, as a fuel/input for multiple generators and crafting buildings, and as a precursor ingredient for explosive mixtures. It serves as ammunition for seven turrets (Duo, Hail, Scorch, Salvo, Swarmer, Ripple, Spectre) and is consumed by the Silicon Crucible, Blast Mixer, Combustion Generator, Steam Generator, and Differential Generator. Downstream, it is combined into Blast Compound in crafting chains that require incendiary or explosive inputs.

Key mechanical properties and production notes:

  • Flammability: 140%, making it the most flammable material in the game and particularly effective for flame- and heat-based systems.
  • Explosiveness: 40%. Radiation and discharge values are 0%, and hardness is 0.
  • Item ID and metadata: listed as item ID #15 with English id "pyratite" and color code #FFAA5F. It has a build time cost of 1 and is not used for building placement.
  • Primary source: produced by the Pyratite Mixer using upstream inputs such as coal, lead, and sand. It is converted into Blast Compound for explosive recipes.

Practical usage and strategy:

  • Use Pyratite as the preferred ammo for flame-favoring turrets; when loaded into flame cannon-style weapons it yields very high damage output relative to non-flame ammo types. Scorch-type weapons benefit especially from its high burning value.
  • In power generation, Pyratite is an effective fuel for Combustion and Steam generation lines and can be fed into the Differential Generator where applicable. Its high burning property increases energy yield from fuel-burning generators compared with many other materials.
  • When chaining production, set up a continuous supply from Pyratite Mixer to Blast Mixer to produce Blast Compound; ensure transport and buffering because Pyratite serves both as fuel and as crafting input and can be consumed quickly.
  • Defensive and offensive deployments should consider Pyratite’s volatility: storage and conveyors exposed to enemy fire or area explosions can create cascading destruction if ignited. Keep fuel lines and storage behind armor or inside protected zones where possible.
  • Because it functions across ammo, fuel, and crafting roles, prioritize allocation depending on your immediate need: front-line flame turrets and generators often take precedence early, while Blast Compound production can be scaled once energy and defense are stable.

Trivia: the term Pyratite intentionally resembles pyrite (iron disulfide), a mineral historically associated with sparks and ignition; this naming reflects the item’s in-game tendency to ignite and promote burning-based effects.
